A NVIDIA RTX 4070 paired with a AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D lands around 45 fps in Baldur's Gate 3 at 1440p with Ultra+ textures, Ultra shadows and DLSS Quality. Ray tracing is left off on this pairing. These values come from the same model the interactive optimizer uses, applied to this exact hardware pair rather than a generic preset.

Your GPU is limiting FPS here
NVIDIA RTX 4070 is holding back your AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D at 1440p in Baldur's Gate 3. A better GPU could get you closer to ~54 fps at these settings.
Estimate only — based on a 20% uplift for a moderate GPU bottleneck, not a measured benchmark.

Baldur's Gate 3 is generous with graphics settings and stingy with CPU time. Acts 1 and 2 will run at Ultra on modest hardware and give a completely misleading impression; Act 3's city, with its crowds and scripted NPC routines, is where frame rates fall and where any settings work should actually be done.
If the city runs poorly while the wilderness is smooth, no graphics change will help meaningfully. That gap is the processor, and it is the single most common source of confusion about this game's performance.
Covers the current PC build. Act 3's city is treated as the CPU worst case; earlier acts are not representative.
