About Fortnite on PC

Fortnite is effectively two different games from a hardware perspective. Performance mode uses a stripped-down renderer that hits very high frame rates on old hardware; the Unreal Engine 5 path with Lumen and Nanite is one of the most demanding configurations in any free-to-play title.

Pick one and commit. Mixing the two goals — UE5 lighting with competitive frame rates — produces a setup that neither looks good nor plays well, and building duels punish input latency more than they reward visual fidelity.

Separates the Performance mode renderer from the Unreal Engine 5 Lumen/Nanite path, which have very different hardware requirements.
